This collection juxtaposes black men with peonies to highlight male vulnerability, a quality often perceived as weakness or femininity. To me, peonies embody softness, fragility, and beauty, needing care, patience, and love to fully blossom. I believe that vulnerability demands similar nurturing to achieve a profound and beautiful result. Each peony depicted is at a pivotal stage of bloom, whether closed or in full bloom. Through these monochrome portraits, I capture black men in moments of vulnerability and intimacy, akin to a fly on the wall observing their private experiences.
